Blood thinners must be discontinued unless specifically advised otherwise by your primary care physician or Dr. Ahmad.
You will receive a call from the hospital prior to surgery instructing you on which of your other regular medications to take the morning of your surgery.
Patients who are having procedures in the office may drive themselves if only one eyelid is being worked on. If you are having both eyelids operated on in the office we recommend a driver. Any patient having outpatient surgery at the hospital or surgery center will need a responsible adult to drive them home.
Please wash your face the day of surgery with a mild soap. Do not wear any makeup the day of surgery.
Patients who are having their procedure in the office can eat and drink on the day of the procedure. Patients who are having their procedure at the surgery center or the hospital can not eat or drink 8 hours before the procedure. The surgery center or hospital will call you the day before surgery and give you specific instructions on when your last intake can be.
Prescriptions will be given as needed prior to surgery. Prescriptions may include an eye ointment, eye drops, pain medication, oral antibiotic, or oral steroid. Please alert us of any drug allergies you may have.
Please call Dr. Ahmad’s office as soon as possible if there is an emergency and you need to cancel your surgery at (630) 505-8888.
